SVELTE H2020 project launches its activities aiming to make the construction industry more efficient, reliable & sustainable with its technology

Svelte is proud to announce the official start of its project “Efficient manufacturing technology for complex architecture” funded by the European Commission under the highly competitive Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation programme – EIC Accelerator.

Having initially completed the SME Instrument Phase 1 Feasability Study also funded by the European Commision, the EIC Accelerator Pilot takes us in a new phase of our business development, aiming to further optimize and develop the Svelte machine-system to be able to deliver any complex shape demanded on an industrial-ready level.

The two-year project focuses on developing solutions for the construction industry to accelerate the pace of constructing resource-efficient buildings across Europe and thus contribute to the CO2 emissions saving target set out in the new EU Green Deal.

The project’s goal is to bring the European construction industry to the next level, enabling the production of complex geometry building envelopes cost-effective & sustainable by increasing panel production efficiency, leading to a drop in costs, complexity and time for the building, while also significantly reducing the green footprint of the construction process.

          What is to be achieved?

  • improved productivity & speed
  • reduced construction cost
  • increased resource efficiency
  • reduced pollution from construction

We will achieve this by combining cutting-edge and innovative technologies, processes and business models.

Project activities and envisioned outcome

Our key focus is on R&D activities followed by a set of small and large scale pilots to validate the solution quality, sustainability and cost/time saving potential for our potential customer, and to prove market operability, relevance and fit. By the end of the project, Svelte wishes to prepare its machine-system for scaling to start commercialization.

Svelte’s vision and the European Green Deal

Today, the world is facing the biggest wave of urban growth in human history. The total built-up area, including skyscrapers, infrastructure projects, commercial and residential buildings, will double in the next 40 years.

A sustainable future in constructions is fundamentally bound to using materials more efficiently and with a lower environmental impact. With a focus on enhanced city living, responsibilities towards materials and iconic architecture, Svelte’s modular solutions can become the new standard in constructions.

Our solution can generate topological optimized structures with a 30% reduction in construction materials without the need to modify the building design.

About the Company:

Svelte was funded for the sole purpose of developing the Svelte solution – a proprietary, unique, innovative machine system which generates all types of surfaces, including double-curved and free-form geometries, at a fraction of the cost and time of current methods, without using CNCs. Svelte aims to become the one-stop solution for structural efficient constructions and double curved facades, providing modular factory-in-a-box facilities at the point of need.
